Welcome to Hooligan Irish Water Spaniels. Florence Blecher, caregiver of these curly brown beasts at Hooligan, has been involved with the breed since 1986. She has served in various offices for the Irish Water Spaniel Club of America during that time and is currently Historian/Archivist for the Club.

     We trust that you'll enjoy this site with its pages of breed lore, general holistic healthcare information as well as advice on feeding a biologically appropriate diet. We've come to this orientation through much thought and study and hope that you'll find it both interesting and informative.

     We breed infrequently as Irish Water Spaniels, in spite of their "fetching" looks, definitely aren't the right dog for everyone. Instead, we breed only when we want to add another dog to our own family.

Each of our IWS residents, past and present, has their own page with links from the dog's registered name to their respective pedigrees. Photos and anecdotes convey a bit of their individual tales.

     It would be neglectful not to acknowledge my breed mentors - Ruth Roes, Betty Liittschwager and Dorothy Read, aka "the Co-R's Ladies," for starting me on this path and to thank them for their guidance, patience and advice over the years.
